Player of the Week - August 31, 2009

Each Monday during the fall, one collegiate player originally reported as a recruit by AVSR is named AVSR Player of the Week for her cumulative performance during the current season.

Asia Stawicka

Sophomore;  6'1" MB;  Georgia Tech
Home:  Warsaw, Poland

Last week:  Hit .618 (22 kills, 1 error, 34 swings) and posted 15 blocks (1.4 per set) in wins over Georgia, Austin Peay, and Mercer, earning all-tourney honors at Georgia Tech's home event.  As a freshman last fall Stawicka led all Tech attackers with a .390 percentage and was named to the Academic All-ACC team.

Excerpt from original AVSR report:  "Swift, springy athlete and a rangy, experienced middle with much talent for continued development. .... Light jump, fast arm, and great mid-air agility.  Approach footwork is backwards, although she jumps from evenly-planted feet after a final half-step with her right foot. .... Superior blocking range due to a quick first step, outstanding foot speed, and an easy, sudden jump. .... Poised, even-keel competitor.  Conscientious and reliable off the court.  Likely to be serious and responsible in the recruiting process."  [April 2007]
