Player of the Week - October 12, 2009

Each Monday during the fall, one collegiate player originally reported as a recruit by AVSR is named AVSR Player of the Week for her cumulative performance during the current season.

Player of the Week:Rachael Morgan

Sophomore;6' 2" Outside Hitter;Florida State University.
Home:Tauranga, New Zealand.

Last week:Propelled 17th-ranked Florida State to road wins over Duke 3-2 and Wake Forest 3-0. Hit at a .389 rate (24 kills, 4 errors, 59 swings) and scored 7 blocks, 12 digs, 3 aces, and 3 assists. After a strong freshman season, Morgan has bested herself this fall in every statistical category.

Excerpt from original AVSR report:"All-purpose athlete, natural competitor, and an instinctive, partly-developed player with a terrific swing and sound basic skills. .... Won't be a freshman starter for a Top 10 team but will improve rapidly due to healthy fundamentals, versatile physical talents, and an easy feel for all phases of the game." [August 2007]

Last week:Boosted Pacific over Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton in four sets each, hitting at a .444 rate (31 kills, 3 errors, 63 swings) and scoring 15 digs, 5 aces, and 3 blocks.
