Player of the Week - October 19, 2009

Each Monday during the fall, one collegiate player originally reported as a recruit by AVSR is named AVSR Player of the Week for her cumulative performance during the current season.

Player of the Week:Svenja Engelhardt

Junior;5' 11" Outside Hitter;University of the Pacific.
Home:Sinsheim, Germany.

Last week:After hitting .444 the previous week to defeat Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton, Engelhardt led Pacific on the road in a five-set win over Cal Poly and a five-set loss to UC Santa Barbara. Over the four matches, Engelhardt had team highs in kills and aces while attacking at a .364 rate (59 kills, 11 errors, 132 swings). She leads the Big West this year with 32 aces (0.46/set).

Junior;5' 11" Outside Hitter;Middle Tennessee State University.
Home:Warsaw, Poland.

Last week:Handled an extraordinary 62% of her team's serve receptions (72 of 117 serves) while also scoring the most kills as MTSU swept Denver and North Texas 3-0 each. Kozon hit .204 (20 kills, 9 errors, 54 swings) and added 16 digs. A six-rotation starter since arriving as a freshman, Kozon is MTSU's kills leader this year for the second consecutive season.
