Player of the Week: September 10, 2012

Last week’s action:
• Ignited North Florida and supersized her comeback from last year’s knee injury. She led the Ospreys to the championship of the North Florida Invitational.
• Jumped off the bench and scored 15 kills in two sets as UNF rallied to defeat Davidson 3-2 after trailing 2-0. Budinska sat out earlier sweeps of Florida A&M and Presbyterian.
• In sand volleyball last spring, Budinska was champion of the Atlantic Sun league. She teamed with UNF middle blocker Dagnija Medina, first reported by AVSR Global in 2008.

“Above all else, Anna is a player. .... What separates her are her knack for making good choices and her balanced, adaptive skills as a six-rotation, old-school gamer. She’s a sound recruit for L1, L2 or RH in mid-Division I and a good bet to keep improving.”

Last week’s action:
• Continued to be Barry’s dominant blocker and most efficient swinger as the Buccaneers won three of four road matches in Michigan.
• Scored 15 blocks in 12 sets. Barry defeated Lake Superior State, Stonehill and Seton Hill, falling to tournament host Grand Valley State.
• Cielena leads Barry as a freshman with 1.2 blocks per set and a .307 hitting rate.

“Laine’s size, skills and elite experience make her an easy pick to be a freshman starter in mid-Division I as a MB, RH, or possibly LH. Her academic excellence and disciplined mentality add extra stability. She’s a solid, low-risk recruit.”
