2013 Player of the Year

Each Monday during the indoor and sand seasons, one player originally reported as a recruit by AVSR Global is named Player of the Week for an exceptional performance.

2013 Highlights:

• Tauai led Hillsborough to a 41-5 record and third place at the NJCAA Championship. It was HCC’s best season ever and Tauai’s second year as a national finals all-tourney star.
• She’s the first junior college player to be named Player of the Year by AVSR Global.
• Tauai was Suncoast Conference Player of the Year and a first-team All-America selection.
• She averaged 3.8 kills and 3.6 digs per set while hitting at .372 efficiency. Even better at the NJCAA finals, she scored 4.0 kills and 3.7 digs per set against four Top 20 teams.
• A veteran beach player, Tauai leads HCC’s sand team, partnering with Mariam Maldonado.

Before Hillsborough:

• Two-time MVP of New Zealand’s high school national championships.
• Competed for New Zealand’s youth and junior national teams.
• Played netball and badminton in high school.
