Player of the Week - November 9, 2009

Each Monday during the fall, one collegiate player originally reported as a recruit by AVSR is named AVSR Player of the Week for her cumulative performance during the current season.

Aksiniya Slavcheva

Freshman;5' 11"MB;Frank Phillips College (NJCAA).
Home:Sofia, Bulgaria.

Last week:Gaining momentum since August and surging in the past two weeks, the freshman led FPC to a regional title and a berth in the NJCAA National Championship. Slavcheva hit .529 and posted 18 blocks (1.2/set) in her past four matches. She starred in the regional final with 15 kills and six blocks in a five-set win over 11th-ranked New Mexico Military Institute.

Excerpt from original AVSR report:"Powerful athlete, explosive swinger, highly skilled net player, and dangerous attacker everywhere on the court. She's most experienced at MB but could switch easily to LH or RH. Generates great power with a short, fast swing and a heavy arm, yet she scores more often as a creative, aware shotmaker."
