Fall Week #5: Darina Kumanova

Last Week:

• In the nation’s biggest upset of the week, Kumanova keyed Pacific’s victory at home over 12th-ranked Brigham Young 3-2.
• Kumanova was best in Set 5, scoring three kills en route to a 15-10 win. In total she attacked at a team-high efficiency rate of .294.
• It was Pacific’s most longshot win in 18 years. The Tigers last beat a top-12 team in 2004, sweeping No. 8 UC Santa Barbara 3-0.
• Pacific moved to 3-5 in the West Coast Conference. BYU fell to 7-1.
• Kumanova has played in every set for Pacific since she transferred in last year from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.
• As a freshman star at UMBC, Kumanova powered the Retrievers to the America East Conference title and the team’s best year since 1998.
• In Bulgaria Kumanova competed for CSKA Sofia, a multi-sport club founded in 1948. She trained with Bulgaria’s junior national team.
