Player of the Week: October 31, 2022

Each week of the spring and fall seasons, one player who was originally reported as a recruit by AVSR Global is named Player of the Week for an exceptional performance.

Fall Week #7: Tsvetelina Ilieva

Binghamton University.

America East Conference.

Junior, 5'11" Outside Hitter.

Last Week:

• Ilieva led Binghamton to the best win of its extraordinary turnaround season. The Bearcats beat America East leader UMBC 3-2 on the road.
• Ilieva posted 24 kills and 10 digs in the match. She ranks third in the America East this season in kills, ace serves and total points.
• A 2022 transfer, Ilieva has lifted Binghamton to its best record since 1999. The Bearcats are 14-7 this year, 5-2 in the America East.
• Ilieva played for two years at Seton Hall University. She transferred to BU shortly after head coach Allie Yaeger made the same move.
• BU has more wins this year than in the four previous years combined.
• This is Binghamton’s first season with an overall winning record since 2008. The Bearcats last won an America East title in 2012.
• Ilieva competed in Bulgaria for the Ahil Volley junior club. She trained at younger ages in basketball, rhythmic gymnastics and track & field.
