Player of the Week - September 28, 2009

Each Monday during the fall, one collegiate player originally reported as a recruit by AVSR is named AVSR Player of the Week for her cumulative performance during the current season.

Sabina Piegza

Sophomore;6' 0 1/2" Setter;Western Nebraska Community College (NJCAA).
Home:  Krzeszowice, Poland.

Last week:  Led WNCC, ranked #4 in the nation, to seven wins in five days, extending the Cougars' mark to 21-2.  After guiding WNCC to third place at last year's national championship, Piegza this year ranks #4 nationally in assists (9.8/set) and #1 in hitting efficiency (.537).  Her twin sister, middle blocker Paulina, ranks #5 in hitting efficiency with a .455 rate.

Excerpt from original AVSR report:  "Strong, stable, veteran setter with efficient skills, bold choices, and healthy mobility.  Calmly runs a wide-ranging, moderately quick offense. .... Foot speed is medium, but she covers above-average court range due to alert reactions and clean movement. .... Will attend the same college as twin sister, Paulina."  [February 2008]
