Player of the Week - October 26, 2009

Each Monday during the fall, one collegiate player originally reported as a recruit by AVSR is named AVSR Player of the Week for her cumulative performance during the current season.

Monika Kasperek

Junior;5' 10" Middle Blocker;Dowling College.
Home:Bielsko-Biala, Poland.

Last week:Hit .585 (34 kills, 3 errors, 53 swings) and scored 12 blocks (1.2 per set) in wins over Mercy, C.W. Post, and Merrimack. The MVP of last year's East Coast Conference championship tourney, Kasperek this fall is the runaway league leader in hitting percentage (.390) while also dominating her team's blocking statistics for the second consecutive year.

Excerpt from original AVSR report:"Superior physical talents and seven years of experience make her an often dominant hitter and blocker, but she's technically unrefined, especially in the back-court. .... Exceptional blocking range for her height. .... Comfortable on the court, but she'll need to become more active and intense as an American collegiate player." [March 2007]
